<itunes:summary>This short film was my most challenging project to date. Not because of the normal production issues, but when your missing an actress and almost three feet of snow fall things get interesting. The Shoot on the 1st and 9th of March went well, considering the script had to be rewritten to remove a character. It’s hard to believe that this was shot on my front lawn after seeing it almost done.I learned a lot about shooting in the snow by doing everything wrong. The one thing I did do right was to make sure that the actors where as warm as they could be. Above is a look at the scene where Daniel gets shot in the head. I used a tube and pressurized air to shoot blood from the back of his head, Then with digital compositing more flying blood was added for a more violent look. Because of 911 it’s illegal for surplus stores to sell dummy grenades. No problem Why not just use a cell phone? Then with a little rotoscoping and motion graphics you get a grenade. Motion tracking without tracking points is a lot easier then it use to be. This computer screen composite was done in AE 6.5 with basic corner pin tracking. The rotoscoping of the fingers wasn’t fun but hey that’s the business, I’m just glad it was shot in 24AP Tuesday July 29thThe first finished DVD has been burned. I had to buy 4 more gigs of ram to complete the compositing of the burning city, but it’s finally done. This project was a huge learning experience full of mistakes and triumphs. In the end because of of technical issues the footage is soft in areas, mixed between 24fps and 29.97fps, and has cine screen artifacting. Issues I know to look for in the future. Many people will comment that there isn’t really an ending to this project, I agree. But when the main actress didn’t show the morning of the shoot. I lost some scenes, like the big shootout to end the movie. The Red Rock M2 worked well under the trying conditions and added a lot to the projectMusic was composed by Justin at http://www.edgen.com/music/He is an amazing composer who makes affordable solutions for indy films.</itunes:summary>
